2024-2025 Generous Life Pledge Drive

“You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.
I hope some day you’ll join us and the world will be as one.”

John Lennon

As Unitarian Universalists, we all have big visions for our church — for who we are and what we want to become. Our visions ask us to choose a life of service and action, within a beloved community we hold dear, grounded in generosity and justice. To view Gary Barnes Pledge kickoff video click here.

Why We Pledge

What we do today ensures future Unitarian Universalists a place for their hopes & dreams.

As Unitarian Universalists, we have big visions not only for our vibrant, welcoming church but for the world around us. We accompany each other on life’s journey by making promises (covenants) to achieve some of our visions and goals by getting invested in our beloved community and generously giving financially to support and sustain these goals. What we do today ensures future Unitarian Universalists a place for their hopes and dreams. This is why we pledge.

An annual budget is necessary for our commitments. We budget so we can sustain the operating costs/repairs of our building, compensate our excellent staff, provide great worship services (including a choir), give our youth and adults intriguing RE programs, and help sustain the UUA. In the past, we were falling a bit short in meeting our budget goals—but more than survive- WE WANT TO THRIVE.

We want to spread the light of this liberal faith and progressive voice in Wilmington. We are the church of the open mind, helping hands, and loving hearts. Let’s reach more of our potential by giving to meet our goal of $290,000.

Sunday Morning Offerings

Pledges are not the same as Sunday Morning offerings. While donations during the weekly offering are greatly appreciated, they are an unpredictable means to support all the congregation’s activities.

How To Pledge

It takes people to be a community but it takes money to address our everyday needs, future visions, spiritual longings, and commitment to one another.

As we rebuild after years of Covid, let us imagine not only surviving to meet needs, but thriving to achieve hopes and dreams. Your pledge ensures that our support and talents are a welcoming sign to our future in this time of ministerial transition.

Many have found it helpful to check out the Fair Share Pledge Guide.

Imagine

what wonderful things happen when we do our part to help make our home and the world a better place. Let this be the year we do more than survive; we generously give to thrive.
